Description: This feature class depicts properties, structures, and landscaping elements that have been evaluated and designated as historic in Marin County or which have otherwise been assessed through a historic study. The polygons are distinguished from each other based on the type of historic designation the properties were assigned during these studies. These different designations include the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), the California Register of Historical Resources (CRHR), the California Historical Landmarks (CHL), and/or the California Points of Historical Interest (POI), as well as designations issued through the properties’ local governing jurisdictions (i.e., cities or towns). Historic resources listed in the NRHP, CRHR, CHL, and POI are also included on the Built Environment Resource Directory (BERD) maintained by the California Office of Historic Preservation (OHP); the majority of the resources depicted were identified via he BERD list for Marin County.Additional historic properties were then added to the streamlined BERD database, sourced from the following local inventories and registries: the City of Belvedere’s Designated Historic Properties List (City of Belvedere 2024);the City of Mill Valley’s Historic Resources Inventory Properties (Page & Turnbull, Inc. 2021);the City of San Rafael’s Historical/Architectural Survey Final Inventory List (Charles Hall Page & Associates, Inc. and San Rafael City Staff 1986); the City of Sausalito’s Citywide Historic Context Statement (VerPlanck Historic Preservation Consulting 2022); the Marin County Local Coastal Program Historic Study (Duthie et al. 1981); andthe OHP’s California Historical Resources website (OHP 2024).To make it easier to quickly assess which polygons represented which level of historic registration, the shapes were color coded to represent broad categories:Locations that are listed on or determined eligible for registration at the national level are colored in red;Locations that are listed on or determined eligible for registration at the state level are colored in blue; Locations that are listed on or determined eligible for registration at the local level colored in green; Listed or recommended historic districts are depicted in an opaque white overlay; andAll other locations (e.g., those documented but not eligible for listing) are colored in yellow. Description: This feature class has been derived from a 1-meter gridded topographic-bathymetric terrain model that was resampled from the MarinMap "tbsm45cm_201008" surface.Resampling was performed using ERDAS Imagine. The surface gradient, expressed as percentage slope, was calculated using ESRI ArcGIS Spatial Analyst functions.ESRI Spatial Analyst Surface functions were used to define contour line features at 15-percent, 26-percent, and 36-percent over the seamless 1-meter countywide slope grid.Considerable effort was expended to build these contours into polygon areas that identify the four slope classes that are discriminated by those three contours. The complexity and the extreme variation in length of the contours made it necessary to dice the segments with a 200-meter grid to shorten the boundaries around the resulting polygons.Once a clean polygon build was successful countywide, centroid points were generated for each polygon and used to interpolate the percent slope grid under each point. These points were then reclassified into the CDA-defined categories, and a coded-value domain was defined for the classification as follows:0 - slope less than 15 percent1 - slope from 15--25 percent2 - slope from 26--35 percent3 - slope 36 percent and greaterThe label points with coded-value attributes were used with the clean bounding lines to generate the final set of countywide slope contours. The development work was performed in US National Grid (WGS 1984 UTM zone 10 north meters) and exported to an ESRI Feature Dataset to project this version to MarinMap customary system (NAD 1983 HARN California Coordinates zone 3 US Survey feet)

Description: The Anadromous Fish Zone is a policy area calling for the protection of steelhead, coho, chinook fish species. Policies described in the 2007 Marin Countywide Plan (CWP) for the Stream Conservation Area (SCA) are applicable. For details refer to 2007 CWP Program Goal-4 on Reparian Conservation but specifially Goal Bio-4a Adopt Expanded SCA Ordinance. Anadromous fish-bearing stream reaches may be initially identified from topographic maps by considering the limit of anadromy up to a sustained channel slope of eight to ten percent. Resident trout reaches are defined as channels with gradients up to 20 percent (Robison et al. 2000, SSHEAR 1998). DFG biologists or land managers may have knowledge of anadromy limits due to local features such as falls, debris jams, small dams, or other stream crossings that may act as migration barriers. From: CA Department of Fish and Game habitat restoration manual, April 2003, Chapter IX-Fish Passage Evaluation at Stream Crossings The zone is a setback (buffer) from the bank of streams, spatially discribed in CWP pages 2-31/32. For stream data we use the Stream FC from County of Marin DPW {querying features "[combo]>0" where 0 means no protection is required, greater than 0 means one or more of the three fish need protection}. There are two groups of setbacks: 1) a combination of 40, 70, 120ft from stream center line (compensating for CWP specified 20', 50', 100' resp. setbacks from bank) in the City Center Corridor (CCC) 2) 120ft buffer from stream center line (compensating for 100' from bank) of streams in Marin for the Coastal, Inland Rural and Baylands Corridors.

Description: In the Marin County Local Coastal Plan document, several communities had zoning maps prepared that were annotated with a line labeled "Community Expansion Boundary". These features were digitized from scans of map copies from the Local Coastal Plan that were georeferenced using parcel and / or road features. Polygons were constructed from the digitized bounding lines.
